Wanted to start a thread to list out software issues that have occurred in the infotainment system. If anyone knows the official channel to report bugs please comment below. I haven't had any luck trying [email protected] who say they only provide help.

2 issues I have seen so far:

  • When using location based charging with hilltop reserve at home, it will not stay on 12A charging away from home. Every time I turn the car off, it jumps back to 8A.
  • It's only happened once, but when I plugged an Android phone in that was already working with Android Auto, it auto launched the surround camera instead of Android Auto. Unplugging and plugging the phone back in didn't fix it. I had to power the car down and when I powered back up it worked correctly again.

Are you asking about the Bolt or the Volt? This is the Bolt forum, so I was curious if you really had a Bolt, or meant this for a Volt forum.

I would assume he has a Bolt, as to the best of my knowledge, the Volt does not have a surround camera...

Not a bug, same as the Volt, you have to override the default 8A setting when using 120V charging away from home.

or hilltop reserve.

But the location based charging just like that on the Volt - location based. Meaning it will automatically default to a lower charge when not at the home location. (page 130 of manual).

Oh, and you need to reset the location every 90 days just like on the Volt also.

So i'm up to about 4 software defects logged now and I cant find any way to get anyone to take notice of them. One of them is actually a real concern as the car lurched forward with creep in L mode which should only happen in D. I called the Customer assistance center who told me I needed to speak to the infotainment team who told me i needed to speak to the Customer assistance center. The ticket i originally opened was closed with no follow up. When asked about a way to get to the team who wrote the infotainment system they gave me a mailing address. Yes, a real street address. It would be comical if i weren't so annoyed by the whole process.

Does anyone know how you can actually report software defects to Chevrolet?

First of all, the first item you stated in your OP is 100% normal and explained in the owners manual
(which should always be your first resource) It is THE INTENT of this behaviour to switch back to 8A as the default for non-home locations so that the potential for blowing a breaker on an unknown outlet is mitigaed

As far as your other potential concerns
You simply need to see your dealer
THAT is the process
You will not be afforded direct communications to the Bolt engineering teams
Your Bolt dealer is the liaison for such concerns to be addressed
See your dealer
it's that simple

Uhh...seems quite reasonable to discuss and report common bugs on a V1.0 vehicle. Nik, the bug I've seen so far in my Bolt (one time) is that the main screen froze when the back up and birds eye cams should have come on, while backing out of the dealer service bay before I left with the new Bolt! Couldn't touch any of the icons, they were kind of grayed out. While I was driving shortly after this, the system rebooted and the main screen came back on, all was normal again. I'm glad the system reboots itself at least! Since this happened before I ever left the dealer with this new car, we checked with the service manager, who said that the car should receive any computer updates over the air automatically via Onstar, free of charge for at least the first 3 years, even without an Onstar subscription. I'm sure there will be some.

Haven't experienced any creeping or lurching forward in L, that would be a concern for me too! Sorry about your experience with customer service, that sucks, and of course helpful responses are most appreciated from fellow enthusiasts. I have an indirect means of communication with the Bolt engineering team, and planned to collect a shortlist of issues (that I'm sure will surface...new design GM vehicle) and forward to them; you're welcome to forward any such list you have to me. But yes, more proper channels of communication would be through your dealer. I don't live anywhere near mine, so I'm hoping to troubleshoot remotely and via others' experiences where possible. Good luck!

Looks like there is a software patch coming to fix a lot of the bugs that I have:

View attachment 132145
Yes, Thanks.
I have now posted that bulletin 17-NA-071 in our new "service bulletin, campaigns, and recalls" section for the Bolt.
http://gm-volt.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?625-Bolt-Service-Bulletins-Campaigns-and-Recalls

As bulletins are released we will try to keep that section up to date

However in agreement with our adhering to copyright for GM published documents, we will not be posting the actual GM issued bulletins, just a synopsis. As such I have removed your attachment (and thanks for your understanding)
