Yes the motors are manufactured by Hitachi in a facility in Kentucky.

Motor improvements are a good thing. More horsepower please.

The improvements sound like lower cost, not more power.
But savings on one could be used to beef up the design if they want to maintain the price point and offer a better product.
So... lower cost it is!
