Does anyone know if a study has been conducted concerning how many electric cars would need to be purchased before it started to affect the amount of oil the US imports?

A typhoon starts with a whisper.

Unfortunately, even if all the governments of the world made a decree to only sell EVs, it would still take more than a decade to make a small difference. You see, the amount of oil in use today (oil powers 98% of the world's transportation infrastructure) is enormous and no energy resource comes even close to the beauty, mobility and low cost of black gold. You can look up the actual numbers using Google.

In other words, it doesn't look good in the short-term. As the oil era ends and the economies of the world moan under the stress, we will burn everything we can before we give up our beloved lifestyles. The last to give it up will be the very rich. We will burn it... Burn it all...
