A few days ago I posted a thread about software updates being available. Yesterday I dropped my 2011 Volt #1569 off at the dealership to have these new software updates installed. The entire process took about 4 hours to complete. It is a very large update. I'm told there are a few updates to the navigation. I have yet to discover what these new updates are. I haven’t really used the navigation too much so I might not even notice them.

After picking up my Volt I noticed a few changes. 1st off... the auto heated seats have been removed from the climate settings home screen. I found an option for auto heated seats still under the remote start options menu. I reported this to the Volt Advisor Team. There were a few updates to the sound quality of the vehicle I'm told. The main part of this update is to improve the overall range of the Volt. I have not completed driving a full charge yet, so I have not been able to prove or disprove any increase. AND THE BIG QUESTION.... does the radio need to be on in order to use the center stack... yes... it still does.

All of this said and done.... HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART:
I got a call this morning from the Volt Advisor Team. The reported that they will be putting the update on hold until they can work out some more updates. It sounded as though they were unaware of the heated seat issue and they want to go over the updates with a finer tooth comb before they roll it out to everyone.

For now I will try to throw some updates on this thread as to other changes or range increases I can report... since very few... if any Volt cars got this update before it was placed on hold.

Has anyone else received the new/held update? Have you noticed any other changes?

I just picked up 2011 Volt #2018 from the dealer 30min ago after dropping it off this morning. They completed the software update and gave the car back without any mention of the updates being put on hold. I can confirm @pushplaymobiledj observations about the heated seat icon removed from climate control and the new option in the config menu. I didn't have much time to go through the nav to see for any detailed changes, nothing majorly noticeable on the main map screen.

My # of fav pages was reset from 2 to 4 and all my saved stations were lost... The chime volume when you enter the car was also reset.

I also seemed to notice that for the same climate setting (75/comfort/auto) the fan seemed to be blowing at a lower speed for the same type of conditions as before. Might be part of all the HVAC reprogramming that was mentioned.

Was heated seats taken out of the climate control the way they got better mileage as @push... stated? :) That would be one way (though, seats should use less power than a heating core).

Given that the software is now in the hands of 3000+ drivers, it's going to get more requests for update and that means a need for good QA of the code wherever they write it. My guess is that things will shake out and a release or two from now, many nagging things will get figured out. But they need a core group of 10 or so hard-core drivers to give instant feedback to updates so they can work on fixing those things you find weird about the updates.

I just left a software development company where the QA people had no experience with testing of the products they were charged to test - I understand when QA can go wrong or be done in a less than complete way. I know GM does a far better job at QA than that small shop of IT software enthusiasts had done.

I should also note that when I charged my car on 240V upon returning to my garage it seams as though a fan is running in the engine compartment the entire time the car is charging. I did not notice this before the software upgrade. My presets were also lost, and the volume for everything was reset.

There was no mention of the recall from the dealership when i picked up my car. I was contacted by the Volt Advisor Team directly this morning to inform me of the software update being on hold. I'm sure the dealerships have not been informed yet... to many to contact in very little time. The update was just released on wednesday i believe and some folks had it installed Thursday. Only to be put on hold early morning Friday.

Not knowing where you are I can't say for sure but I can tell you that here in Houston in this triple digit heat we've been having, my fan(s) are running the WHOLE time the car is charging at 240v. Not only just fans but I think yesterday the A/C compressor may have also started up. Much more than fan noise was going on for a few minutes.

Well I'm glad I didn't get too excited about this, LOL. I haven't heard a word from Chevrolet about it. Are they supposed to be notifying all of the Volt owners? Wake me when it's over, hahahaha.

The heat here in Little Rock has cause the same: fans are running through the duration of charging... I have not received the software update. I am not sure of any dealerships near me that can do that.

Dealer went ahead and did 11137 update for us today. Will check in with the VA but I guess we are going to hold out on the second car for the next version.

Any updates on the software rollout? My car is said to have the update applied, but I do have the auto heated seat buttons. Is that because they added those back in while the rollout was on hold?

Do you have heated seats in your Volt? If so, are the auto heated seat buttons still present on the Climate screen?

I just had mine updated. Yes, I still have the heated seat buttons in the Climate screen.

I don't notice anything different. I had to readjust the bootup and phone volumes, and set the clock back 6 hours. My dealer returned it to me with 36 miles EV range (I dropped it off the night before, and using the Onstar app I cold tell it was plugged in 240v). They used some of the electricity during the day.
