Does anyone know if GM has announced if the Volt will have a regular key or a start/stop button like the Camry/Lexus cars?

After driving without a normal key for a while it feels so old and dated to actually use a key. A car like the Volt is so new that it would really seem to fit it and putting an old styl;e key in the ignition just seems outdated.

Hopefully they will offer a full luxury model of the Volt. I'd gladly pay $45K+ for an electric vehicle that looked as nice inside as a Caddy CTS.

Key? What's that?

I would be amazed if GM is dumb enough to have a key for the Volt. For years, I wondered why GM persisted in having two keys: ignition and trunk. I'd been driving foreign cars for years with one key for both.

If it is an electric car, it should have a button. My Prius, when you push the Power button, just lights up. I've had it for a while now and have not figured out how to put it in neutral to rev the engine, just to show how macho I am. I'm convinced that it can't be done.

That would explain why so many women drive Priuses. They aren't inflicted with Testosterone Disease.

From what I was told from people who have went to Volt Nation, It a keyless VOB. It would start the car with out the key. Don't need the keys to the door as long you have a VOB near the car it will unlock the door.

Thanks. That's perfect for me. I've always wondered why those VOB's aren't made to look like a credit card. It's a small chip and it doesn't need a big unit. I would imagine it could be made super thin like a credit card. If that was the case then I could keep it in my wallet and never have to carry keys.

I had thought of this before in another thread about a credit card VOB. I could keep it in my wallet. If the car won't start then I know I forgot my wallet.

Other people says would want buttons on VOB say for trunk would open or alarm turn off ect...

We will have to wait and find out what this keyless VOB is all about.
