Does anyone have a system to determine what % of the odometer on your vehicle has accumulated by the ICE? I want to know how much use my engine gets. Engine run times from the OBD2 do not register through my dongle to my iPad. I don't want to spend the money for a DashDAQ with a Volt supplement which probably would give me the information.

I have owned three Volt's (all bought new) so I signed up for VoltStats and let it track my ICE/EV miles.

Here's the data on my 2017 so far.

Simplest way is

(Total Miles / Lifetime MPG) = Gal. used

(Gal. Used * Actual MPG) = ICE Miles

For one of my 2013s it works out to this:

42000 / 144 = 292 gallons used

292 * 36 = 10500 ICE miles

So about 25% of my miles are ICE and 75% EV.

If you have an active Onstar account you can get that info from My.Chevrolet.com, MyVolt.com, or VoltStats.net
It is also available on the smartphone apps.

Use the onstar Remote link app or mychevrolet app. I use the Onstart app ever time I fill up. I go to Vehicle Status then swipe my finger in the downward motion on the screen to update the information. Down at the bottom under efficiency it give Total EV miles and Total miles. Subtract EV miles from total miles to get GAS miles. I keep a spreadsheet and subtract the miles from the last fill up to get individual trip miles.

What good is all that information? 2 miles here, 5 miles there. Over the long haul you just want to know about how many miles are ICE and EV. Everything else is OCD IMHO.

Definitely recommend signing up for Voltstats.net. It does a good job of tracking your driving habits and can easily provide the info you are requesting.

This is great until you are downgraded to basic OnStar service after a few years.

I do wish Chevrolet had a "EV Miles" and "Gas Miles" as part of their summaries on the energy screen. It is a little crazy that there's no definitive "odometer" of sorts to track both separately.

I have been downgraded to OnStar basic, and I am still able to have my data collected by Voltstats. I re-linked my car during the full OnStar trial period, before it downgraded to basic. I have not had to re-link the car since OnStar downgraded to basic.

From Voltstats I can download my readings history and see gas burned, EV miles and Total miles, even though none of that data is available via the Onstar app now. The OnStar app in basic mode now seems to only allow Key Fob vehicle commands.

Thanks
I came to the same conclusion. I record litres, kilometres and fuel consumption at each fill-up and can compute from this information (but using the average fuel consumption when operating totally on fuel) to calculate k's on the ICE and by subtracting the calculated ICE k's from the k's recorded, determine the EV k's.

So....what is everyones calculated % ICE and EV?

Just picked mine up today and debating whether I can be bothered to even calculate this stat. My guess is most people will go b/w 70-95% EV...

I am going low tech on this.

Gas consumption averages say 5l/100km or so in the ICE the way I drive on hold mode on the highway.

Note how many times I fill the gas tank via ticks penciled onto a post it stuck to the glove box door.

In a year that will come close enough to tell me the ICE km's I run in a year.

Can you tell I once drove an old truck with a speedometer but no odometer about 30 years ago?
Ticks on and old cigarette box flap on the sun visor told me when I was due to change the oil in the old straight six in it.
