It's on all the time on cable TV.
Awesome!

I see VW had something to do with it. Bless their hearts ! Of course they got spanked into promoting this future!
GM, does this give you any marketing ideas?

"Education" is part of the settlement. GM is simply not going to waste advertising dollars on PEVs to get sales they don't need or want.

When GM starts serious advertising of PEVs, then you'll know that they're struggling to meet compliance targets.

A couple of problems with the JetStones ad, first George's dog is named Astro, his son i Elroy, in the ad the dog is Elroy.

The real problem is that it doesn't make EVs appealing, some of this is VWs fault, they shot it in the middle of nowhere rather than the usual beautiful car ad locations such as a mountaintop or by the ocean. The second is GM's, the Bolt is such an uninspiring car, the only thing you can say nice about it's appearance is that at least it doesn't look like a Leaf which is flat out hideous. In order to make the Bolt the better looking of the two cars they had to find some old ****box of an ICE to put Fred in, but the net net of it all is that it won't help EV sales at all. This may be by design. VW is airing these ads at gun point, it's part of the dieselgate settlement. They aren't allowed to promote their own cars, and even if they were they don't have any at the moment unless you count the E-Golf, which is just as ugly and really is nothing more than a compliance car. The Porsche and the Audi aren't shipping yet so I suspect they told the ad agency to make an ad that complies with their obligations but won't cost them any future sales when they finally ship a real EV themselves.

That "old ****box" is a debadged Subaru Outback, not exactly a scarce car on the roads.

Even better (worse for Subaru) - Subaru used to have a hybrid CrossTrek that they killed in the 2018 model year.

Probably because they're releasing a PHEV developed in partnership with Toyota later this year. Doesn't make sense to continue to produce their old conventional hybrid system when this is coming. Likely a gap at start of the second-gen model to either build up inventory and tool up the line, or allow time for Toyota to get its feet under itself by dedicating most of its battery/EV drivetrain inventory to its own products for the first year of production.

Also if this thing gets 25+ miles of range and anywhere near even 40 mpg, I'm guessing Prius Prime and Ioniq PHEV sales fall off a cliff.
