Can anyone who's driven the LT comment on how the sound system is? I've driven the Premier, which had great sound. I want to know what I'm giving up by not getting Bose, if I go that route. Am I going to hate it, or is it still like most cars...a pretty reasonably good sound system?

I thought it sounded ok at the dealer, but I have a hard time understanding some podcasts when driving at highway speeds. The bitrate isn't the problem since they sound fine in my other car.

No subwoofer in the standard one, and probably less amp power too, so it probably is a bit poorer.

I have a 2013 w/o Bose and a 2016 LT w/ Bose and the Bose is definitely worth it. If you're looking at the LT, splurge for the comfort package (heated seats and steering wheel) and the Bose. That's pretty much everything you need. You won't regret it.

I have the Bolt EV LT. To me, the sound is fine, but it wouldn't be up to an audiophile's standards. Of course, I doubt the Bose system would either.
I can assure you the Bose system in the Premier is not up to audiophile standards, not even up to casual listener standards!

IMO 2-3X overpriced and mediocre at best, Bose has pretty much sold-out at this point when it comes to automotive systems. Their name only guarantees you'll pay more for the system... not that it will sound good.

As the OP can see everyones ears are different. If you are going to order the base sound system you'd better hear it first. You might be okay with it, or on the other hand you may not.

I see that. I went with the bose on my 2014 Volt. I liked it a lot. But, then when buying my wife a 2014 volt, identical except for paint color and the lack of bose, I really didn't notice THAT much difference. Maybe it did have a little less bass...but I tweaked the bass up on the equalizer and it really isn't too far off.

I was just trying to see if someone thought the '17 Bolt sound was bad in the non-Bose model. I really would like to save some cash on this one as times are tight for doing anything with vehicles...one kid starts college this month. So the LT, if the sound were reasonable, may be the way to accomplish that. I'll miss the leather, and the bose, and the rear seat heat, but the rest I could really live without.

Now that I took delivery of my Bolt, I would like to circle back on this question and answer it. To recap, I got the LT. I would have done the premier but the added cost couldn't be justified. I was worried about the sound system not being good on the LT, since I couldn't do the Bose option.

Well, as it turns out, I'm happy with the LT's plain-jane sound package. It is not bad at all. I can say that I did have to move the sound center (fader control) to the aft a little to have the sound not just sound like it was all coming from in front of me, but other than that, it is plenty good for my needs.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but after a week with my Bolt LT, the USB music player seems to want to turn on every time I start the engine, even if I had it paused before shutting it off. I haven't found anything in the manual or on Youtube to really explain how to stop this. Though the manual seems to imply that it's supposed to start playing. Is there a way to turn this off?
