So VW has at least 2 models that total 23,226 units but they don't show up at all on the first chart?

Those numbers do not include GM sales for China. 2.4 million cars including a number of PHEV/EV models. How many GM plug-ins were sold so far this year is hard to tell. 1,000 of the recent Buick Velite 5 (Volt), unknown numbers of CT6 PHEV (a product intended for the Chinese market, not the US), and some GM Chinese brands are hard to get numbers for. Probably 30,000 PHEV/EV this year.

Nissan and Renault are the same company. If combined on the chart they outsold Tesla with a product that is getting pretty old. Toyota Prime has not outsold Volt in the US (yet). So they must have sold half of the Primes outside of the US. I3 is only a little over one third of BMWs plugin sales. The rest are big SUVs with little EV range. Tesla X is big, expensive and has had it's share of problems but almost outsells Volt 2 to one. Tesla and BMW seem to prove that big is the way to go.
