I saw that you can download a file from your volt I assume to take somewhere to get an update. My question is how do you keep it up to date, and how do you get map updates?

Will you provide the link to the file you mention?

Getting map updates for the file or for the DVD driven NAV system in the car? If the latter, there is no way short of buying a new DVD for ~$150 -$200 to get an updated map system, and that will also not be the CURRENT information.

If you are referring to Android Auto or Car Play, I believe that the most current information is downloaded whenever the app is used. Someone correct me if I am wrong, please.

You werent clear exactly what you looking to update. Are you asking for only map updates? Or are you looking for something else like Android auto.

Also, What year volt do you have because that will make a difference regarding NAV. If you do a search on google then specify you year volt then you should find what you are looking for. You also might add a signature to your profile specifying what year volt you own, so folks can help you out.

Here's an example usb update for 2016 Volt. I believe ealier models were DVD only as mentioned in the post above.

If yur asking about android auto updates for 2016 and new volts then you need to have that done at the dealer if it wasnt done when you bought your car.
