Which one of these do I unplug to disable the noise maker?

I unplugged the 5 fuse as said to do by someone else in another thread but that did nothing and the noise was still being emitted in D and L.

I have a 2016 if that matters....

You were poking around in the wrong fuse block. The one you want is the fuse block under the floor of the rear hatch.

That picture is under the floor in the hatch, where all the fuses and the 12v is.

Which one is it? Or is there another somewhere I'm not seeing?
"The rear compartment fuse block is in the center of the rear compartment under the load floor. Open the rear load floor door and remove the cover to access the fuse block."

For additional details see the 2017 Volt Owner's Manual, page 269 - 271.

Yes. I know. That is exactly what that is

I am simply asking which fuse do I disconnect to disable the noise maker in the picture above

You might want to search for "artificial engine noise", I found this thread: http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread.php?184074-Why-does-the-2016-Volt-have-artificial-engine-noise&highlight=alert+fuse

It is unclear from the thread if removing F5 -Pedestrian Protection will disable the artificial noise. F5 might be for the pedestrian collision avoidance, I really don't know.

Ya I already looked through that thread and no one specified which actual fuse it is

^ That is another fuse box I just found

If someone that has done it can say which fuse it is to disconnect would be greatly appreciated

Look at the fuse cover; it has labels for all the fuses. The one you want to pull is "PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION" which may be abbreviated to something shorter, but still along those lines

Using page 270 of the 2017 Volt Owner's Manual for reference, F5* would be the 10 amp fuse on the far right of the lower row of fuses in your photo. In the following order from left to right: F11(blank)-F10(blank)-F9(5amp)-F8(15amp)-F7(15amp)-F6(10amp)-F5(10amp)*

Your Volt does not have F10 - Unused or F11 - Amplifier.

I'm pretty sure that's the safety package option, and I do not have that option on mine.

So then there's no way for me to disable the noise generator without having the Pedestrian Protection package?

Mine is a 2016 without the pedestrian package. It's just a sound generator so there has to be a way to disable it even without that package...

There's no such thing as the "pedestrian protection" package...it's present on all 2016 and up Volts. It's just a noise generator that makes noise when you're in gear; pull that fuse and it turns off the noise generator.

put your passenger seat to as high as it can go, and push it all the way back. there should be a split in the carpet, gently pull it forward. on the center tunnel there is a black box. Unplug that cable, this is the noise generator, the speaker is hard to get to.

After all those posts, if you removed fuse F5, did it stop the pedestrian alert sound?

The black box I'm pointing to on the left? All I have to do is disconnect it and that's it?

Just want to be sure so I don't F up anything

No it didn't. I don't know what it did but I put it back in.

It will be way easier for you to pull the fuse at the back of the car...it's one of the 10A fuses and it's labeled on the back of the fuse cover

Its pretty simple go back to your fuse panel in the trunk(you already had that cover off in the pic) The fuse is F5 called "PED PRO" which is in the second row, 10 amp fuse, last one to the right. The legend is underneath the fuse cover you took off. And your done.

Dude -- just pull the rear fuse that multiple people have mentioned before in the rear fuse block. The only thing you will lose on top of the noisemaker is the beep you get when you connect the car for a charge.

You do not lose functionality for the windows -- I've had mine noisemaker unplugged for almost a year and all windows have always worked perfectly.

Kinda amused that's it's taken 2 pages of back and forth for what's clearly explained with diagrams in the manual, nobody reads those it seems these days.
