Okay, I'm confused. The article winds up with a comment about how the car didn't have Vision in its name, so maybe Mercedes will actually build some production units. The quote from the Mercedes person has the word Vision in the name...

I'm not sure it's exactly what I need for my daily commute, but it does look to be a pretty cool car. :)

It's a cartoonish land yacht for two people.

The Cadillac Sixteen already did something similar but as a pure ICE back in 2003...Mercedes even appears to copy the hood design...

Is that a 2 burner RV stove under the hood :p
Under the butterfly hood cover, the Maybach reveals a beautifully finished, customized storage cabinet for umbrellas, drinks kits, chinaware, or custom-sized luggage. It may well be the most expensive pattern block puzzle for adults in the world....

It seems to me there should be plenty of space behind the engine for a frunk, or a pair of side/front trunks.

I like the looks of the Cadillac Sixteen over the Mercedes. Alas, EVs are still getting released at a glacial pace. 2010 was exciting with the arrival of the Volt and Leaf. 2012 had the Model S. I wonder when the Model S will be replaced with a newer model (the current facelift with the new grill really isn't a new model). Tesla really missed the boat by not offering the Model S in a long 2 door model like these two prototypes. Keep the interior the same, make front seats that tilt forward, move the B pillar aft, longer front doors, no back doors, done.
