Hello, All:

I have a 2015 Volt, and I just noticed the other day that the steering wheel horn has stopped working. The pedestrian horn and charging notification still work, so it's only the horn activated from the steering wheel that appears to no longer work.

This is a CPO Volt, so I can take it in to the dealer for the repair, but before I go through that hassle, I'm wondering if this could be something simple? I'll take a closer look this weekend, when I have some time, so any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Have you read through your manual to locate the Horn Fuse location, and then check its fuse???

Since the OP reported his Pedestrian Alert/Charge notification noises still work on his Gen1, this would indicate the fuse/solid-state horn relay are functioning. More than likely the momentary ground signal from the horn switch in the steering wheel is missing and/or his Volt has an issue with the K9 BCM...

Thanks, Somms, that was my thinking------if the pedestrian and charge horn works, then the fuse, wiring, etc, must be generally okay. I'm going to take a closer look at all of this tomorrow, so thanks for the diagram. If needed, I'll have to make an appointment with the dealer.

Just as an update, the problem with the horn not working turned out to be intermittent. Sometimes the horn works, sometimes it doesn't, and it seems to be temperature dependent. When it is cold outside, as it is now, the horn doesn't work, but when it warms up, it starts working again.

So, I took my 2015 Volt to the dealer yesterday when the horn was not working, and they determined that the steering wheel horn contacts have failed. Unfortunately, the entire steering wheel has to be replaced, so they ordered the steering wheel. Hopefully, this will resolve the problem in a few days.
