I use the standard EVSE that comes with the Volt exclusively. I charge out doors with no overhead protection and haven't had too many issues. The one problem I am having is the EVSE falling apart. The case has split apart so I had to glue it together. The plug portion that connects to the cable is split apart. But, with all that, it has continued to work through rain, snow, and sleet. I got shocked once but it was from the extension cord.. standard tingley feeling.
