I have a local salesman looking for a red 2017 Volt for me and he called to tell me that GM has put a hold on the red-colored option. Has anyone else heard about this and/or know the reason why?

Thanks,
david

There maybe a hold on building Volts until the inventory drops, GM has stopped building sedans, including the Volt, because the demand for sedans is down.

#1 to bjrosen, with added caveat, for manufacturers to have a uniformity of paint they would wish to have known quantity of vehicles in the pipeline for any given color in order to know how much paint to produce. Manufacturers are trying to reduce the waste in building vehicles

Maybe they were using the same dye (red dye #2) that was found harmful in M&M's? If anyone here owns a red Volt, try not to lick the car until we know it is safe to do so!
Not unusual for this to happen really.
