So my car pool stickers arrived for my Siren Red 2017 Volt. Two large ones and two small ones. It would make my car fugly now because the green stickers are an eyesore. Do you really need to install all the four stickers? I only wanted to install the two small stickers.

The instructions are confusing it is like I will have a choice to install only the Big stickers or the small stickers, but I could be wrong in interpreting their instructions.

I rarely use the carpool lane since I usually drive only at 60 mph so if all four of them are needed, i may just want to forego it.

I have installed only the small ones and as low and out of the way as possible. I have never been stopped for omission of the large ones, but when I turned in my leased '13 I put the two large ones on as directed in the instructions so the car would be "complete" for the next owner.

Although another thread indeed discusses this, the answer is yes, you MUST install all four stickers. We got used to our stickers in about two minutes (brilliant silver car). In your case (siren red), think of them as a festive seasonal addition (green) to your Volt.

Legally....I would follow the instructions and others advice here.

Personally, I do not have the front sticker placed on the front bumper. I really wish I could only put on the rear right 2 passenger stickers (Because that is the most visible on the freeway).

YMMV........really consider the risk reward of what you are proposing.

Besides the stickers though, make sure you have the certificate in the car. I think it is almost as important as the stickers.

NOTE: I believe the stickers stay better when they are on the paint versus any plastic area. I fully expect mine to fall off when they expire in a couple of years.

I put my side stickers on the separate trim pieces at the bottom edge behind each rear wheel. The rear-bumper sticker went right around the corner from the right side one, on the same trim piece. Maybe they are lower than the "ideal" locations, but this way they only "spoil" the appearance of the trim pieces, not the whole fenders. Only the front one had to go on the main body-color bumper, and that one is mounted quite low, too. I cannot imagine getting a ticket for these locations, since there are no absolute rules for installation positions. I hardly noticed them even right after I out them on, just last Thursday.

$10 in bridge tolls saved already. (-:

Actually their are rules about placement but ther probably is flexibilty about their placement. DMV rules about placement are shown on the thread referenced above but posted again.

To each their own. I also was concerned about the looks but decided to place them extremely low on the rear of the car and the front. I use the HOV lane everyday so I did not want to take the chance of getting pulled over on my way work (probably on a day with an early meeting).. In a few years, I'll heat them up with a blow dryer to remove them and some goo remover for any residue.

If you rarely use it then skip it and if you get caught then have them in your glove box and maybe the officer will give you a break if he is nice...but then again maybe not. Good luck.

I like 'em.

Green or Yellow stickers used to mean something was a pitiful slug.

They give you an advantage if you need to pass somebody if they see the stickers.
