I have ordered GM service manuals since 1974, and the older versions were in several volumes (and they never passed 20 pounds of weight!). But for the Volt, it will be at least two volumes. One would be for the body work, and maybe engine and service guides using the error codes from the scanners, and the second one would have the electrical schematics, wiring and connector locations, and maybe another list of guides. It varies with each model. My last purchase was the two volumes for my 2009 Chevy Equinox (see my signature), and all my GM vehicles last an average of twenty years each, so I don't buy many sets.

But I am old-school, and I prefer to calmly read a physical book than read many screens on a laptop (I have the PDF versions, too). I do recommend taking time to sit and read every page. Your brain will not absorb everything, but your memory will remember where you will find items that will be important later, such as replacing fluids and parts. Some service procedures will need specific GM tools, and that will help you decide if you will try to DIY or let the dealer do it. That alone will halp you make better decidions and save money when your Volt needs servicing.

So much for Helm's notification process:(. They offer to notify you by email when out of stock items become available. I gave them my email address months ago but I still haven't heard a peep out of them regarding the 2016 Volt Service Manual!

I have ordered GM service manuals since 1974...
I'm tempted to order but have you read Helm's note in red that says this.....
"This manual is a digital reprint of the original publication. It is possible that this item will be in loose-leaf format. Any wiring diagrams in the original shop/service manual are NOT reproduceable and are no longer available."

Is this true....$300.00 and no wiring diagrams? Or is this just a generic disclaimer that they use?

For what it's worth, I just checked on availablity. At helminc.com it shows the 2016 service manual is available. I have a 2017 and it's still not available.

I find it amusing they have a "2018 Chevrolet Mylink Infotainment Manual French, Price: $22.50 In Stock" under owner's manuals.

Confirmation of MY18? ;-)

The 2017 Volt service manual is now available. I choked on the price but I ordered it anyway. Just short of $400 with handling and shipping. (No state tax)

I received my manuals yesterday. I can confirm they ARE NOT in loose leaf format. 4 bound (like a book) manuals, just like the 2 other Helm manuals I've ordered over the years. I have not checked for wiring diagrams, but I would like to think with a car like the Volt would have wiring diagrams!
