The so-called sill plates are thick stick-on aluminized decals. I would save your money.

I have the front ones on a 2017. Although very nice they are quite short and I'm fairly sure they fit the back unmodded.
If you're on a Gen 2 let me know and I'll measure for you to be sure.

They are stick on but they use a very strong 3M type of adhesive that goes close to the edges.
And I don't think it's aluminized plastic, the description says it SS and it does looks like polished steel.

They felt like plastic to me, I paid $75 for mine and IMHO that was too much for what you get. They don't protect the area that most likely will take the brunt of shoe scuffs.

My recommendation is to save your money.

The OP can always contact GM to verify the material, but I very much doubt GM is misrepresenting the stainless steel.

If you install them along the edge, instead of following the instructions, they provide decent protection. None would provide perfect protection unless they wrapped around.
