Has Anyone Removed Hatch Floor in Gen 2 Volt?

I'm hoping to get some pictures/detail of what's underneath, to see if it's possible to design an inverter kit similar to what's available for the Gen 1 Volt. There has been a fair amount of interest in one but unfortunately availability near me has been limited.

Thanks! Specifically, I'm curious if the floor can be lifted up via four bolts/nuts on each corner, and if so, what it looks like underneath. I'm also curious if there is a pass-through space between this area under the floor and the left compartment on the side of the hatch.

Eric,

If all else fails, I suspect you'll be able to take a look at my '17 in about 10 more weeks. It is supposed to be in production this week and I anticipate bringing it to NY on the dolly.
Appreciate it Mark, that may be the best route.

A decent sized inverter over 1000 watts is going to make substantial heat. The battery hookup are there under the load floor, but the unit will certainly need to be mounted in a fresh air zone somewhere in the hatch. I might put mine on the wall behind the rear seat back. The Cobra's have a remote turn on feature I use in my BEV.

So can you tell how much room is under there? In the GEN1 that's where the Bose Sub mounted and if you didn't have the Bose system it was empty. I've mounted a small 8" powered subwoofer (Kenwood) in that area for one of our Gen1's and then the other I mounted just the AMP in there because the Sub was too big to fit. Just wondering how much useable space is down there under the foam.

Easy Peasy
Only 3 push-in fasteners retain the Rear Compartment Floor Stowage Tray
Besides the 14V/Auxillary Power Module you will also find the On-Board Charging Module under there too! (and the all-new cooling hoses that route through them)
The 12V battery fuse assembly has a slightly different design, AND there's an unused 100A megafuse connection in that assembly as well. ;)

Great photo, and helpful too... thanks!

Nice photo!
Module on the left is the new DC-DC converter (aka APM/14V power module) on the right the all-new On-Board Charger Module assembly.
You can also see the new coolant lines! (this may appear as "back to the future" moment for Leaf fans! lol)
Also note the threaded stud "stand-off" for the spare tire kit on the floor pan next to the OBCM.

'Hoping to use the Gen 1 EV Extend wiring set I have in the Gen 2. 'Will be interested to hear what you think....

Hi Mark, you could certainly try it. In an ideal scenario it would just work. :) I haven't been able to personally look at some of the other details, like where the fuse would mount, or where the wiring would route. The pictures help but don't tell a complete story. I'm hoping to be able to figure these details out in the coming months.

Of course, if you try to fit the kit in "as is" and it works, feel free to report that too. :)
