I went to Ravenna, NW of Grand Island. A thin cirrus cloud moved over the sun just at the time of the total but it just made for a more dramatic photo. Solar prominences, Bailly beads, corona were clearly visible. The light is just before, during, and just after totality is well, unearthly. Venus is visible in the darkened sky. There's a second chance in 2023 or 2024 for the Eastern half of the US. Suggest putting that event on your bucket list if you have never been in a total eclipse.
PS, I drove through some real Midwest thunderstorms on Monday morning and I didn't mind sitting above the rain spray in my truck. I mean Sunday night were I stayed in western Iowa we just got dumped on and building shook from the thunder.
