I would actually be thrilled if I could just get Google Maps to work on my Apple CarPlay. Right now the only thing I can use is Apple Maps, and it has steered me wrong on more than one occasion. It sends me into roads that are dead ends that it believes actually go through somewhere, and sometimes does the opposite and routes me miles out of the way because it doesn't believe there is another road that exists, even though it does.
Google Maps
I prefer WAZE over Google maps, in part because of prior use, and partially... because I like it lol. My wife feels the same and has a 2016 Malibu to go along with my 2017 Volt.
