I purchased a 2016 Premier on 12/30 from Lavery Automotive in Alliance, OH. Car was a GM program car with 1,300 miles that had never been titled. They currently have one other untitled 2016 Volt on the lot, and can likely get more of these program cars if you're in the market - 2016 Gray LT with 800 miles listed for $25K, or only $17,500 including the full federal tax credit! http://www.laveryauto.com/VehicleDetails/used-2016-Chevrolet-Volt-5dr_HB_LT-Alliance-OH/2905352193

If you contact them, ask for Mark. He was able to find my car at auction last Wednesday and was able to get it ready for me to pickup on Friday before the end of the year.

Sounds like Demo/Service loaners which are some of the best deals out there since you can still claim the tax credit/receive all factory incentives...On the lease hacker sites, this is how folks are able to find $55K+ BMW/M.B. leases for under $400/mo...

You snatched that car! Had my eye on it and in a blink of an eye--was gone! Good for you! I was willing to drive 6 hours to get that deal.

THey are listing the other as a USED, FYI. What did you pay for the NEW Kinetic Blue? My local dealer doesn't believe that their list price of "27,500" was a REAL price. I laughed (and held onto my wallet).

Well before I snatched this one, someone snatched the black/black '16 Volt Premier they had earlier last week that was listed for $27,000 I was looking at. Anyone here get that one? They said the new owner was from IL. Mark @ Lavery was able to find the Blue one I purchased at auction 2 days later. They matched the price on the black one & made a quick, easy sale. I drove 7.5 hrs to pick that one up & towed it home.

I was told they have to list these as used cars since they purchased them at auction. They provided copies of the MSO and Carfax confirms these were not previously titled.

Voltenrock - if you're serious about buying a newer Volt, give them a call & tell them what options you're looking for. It sounded like they may have access to more of these GM program cars. They called me while their buyer was at auction & gave me 2 to choose from.

So even though they list it as used, it still qualifies for the tax credit? I'll be checking into this as I don't want a $7,500 mistake haha

Looks like Lavery got 3, 2017 Volt program cars in stock. All listed as used, but never titled. 1 LT ($28.8K) with 2000 mi. & 2 premiums ($30.5K) with < 200 mi., all Kinetic Blue with Black interior.

klic,

Are you sure these qualify for the Federal Tax Credit? I'm getting conflicting stories from a few different dealers as to what these MSOs really are. A dealer today told me that even though these may not be titled, their "in-service" date started so they are not new. That's why the sell them as used.

Has anyone actually applied for the Federal Tax Credit, or state for that matter, with one of these MSOs?

Curious to others experience and waiting to get that new Volt.

Thanks,

TIA

The in-service date can start if the vehicle becomes a dealer demo--thus starting the warranty clock ticking. HOWEVER, this does not make it "used" for purposes of the tax credit. If it has never been titled--and you are the first owner--you get the tax credit. You just have to watch out to make sure the dealer doesn't take title first. The MSO is the proof. You can also ask for a carfax/autocheck which should clearly show no prior owners.

I am driving a 2014 Volt that was a dealer loaner. It had 3000 miles on it. We got it for $28,400. We got the $7500 tax credit.
