My radio has a Pandora Icon that's Grayed out. What is the secret to having access to it? Does it require an Onstar package to access it?

When Pandora updated their app design a little while back, it seemed (in my experience) to make Pandora in the Volt a little less reliable. I fixed mine by unpairing and re-pairing my phone with my Volt. Ever since I did that, the icon becomes active when the car turns on and pairs with my phone, just as intended.

Thanks I'll give that a try. But you're saying it still relies on the Phone source to Work via Bluetooth?

Yes. It basically just interfaces with the app on your phone. I find it easier to just play Pandora through the "Bluetooth Audio" source. It connects more reliably and is generally less finicky.

I tried re-pairing the phone, but it did not activate the icon.

It does seem to work OKAY with Bluetooth Audio.

I can live with it that way I guess. I primarily listen to XM but now and then switching it up with one of my Pandora Custom channels is a nice change of pace.

Be aware though that Pandora works when paired with a phone that has Pandora installed however the most recent update (version 8.3) caused a lot of issues with functionality of Pandora control on my phone/Volt combination. I have a Droid turbo and found with the latest Pandora update I could activate Pandora just fine, pause, thumbs up/down etc. However if I tried to switch to a different station it would freeze on the playlist menu, play the next choice I selected but I would lose all other functionality until I quit Pandora on my phone and restarted again. I had to downgrade to version 8.2 since it seems 8.3 has issues for me. 8.2 works flawless for me. This is also on a 2013 Volt.

Try wiring it into the volt with a USB cable to see if it ungrays the icon. Also, I noticed just yesterday that Sirius looks different with a bunch of blue backgrround artwork and a bunch of free channels, I'm guessing it's some sort of promotion to get you to buy over Memorial Day weekend. I too wish I could get rid of the icon. You can move it wound using some configu settings so I throw mine onto the 3rd screen and keep the 1st screen for heavily used stuff, but pushingnthensoucr button on the steering wheel still cycles through it.

Speaking of wishes, I wish they had a way for the car to remember the last source was Bluetooth and be patient enough or quick enough to resume where it last left off. In my 2013 gen1, I have to switch source to Bluetooth, and only after 30 seconds or so after starting the car. Any time I hurry the process, I have to go into this dance to get the car and phone to pair correctly.

In my 2013, I have to use USB and open the Pandora app on my iPhone before the app will light up on the Volt.

also just play via BT connection.

Related, I wish I could turn off/grey out the SiriusXM connection. I hate how it still plays on their free "preview" channel.

You can customize the home screen. I took SiriusXM off my screen so I don't have to look at it or accidentally hit it.

Yeah, but you still end up cycling through it when using the source button on the steering wheel. I want to get rid of Am, Fm, and XM and just cycle between Aux, USB, and Bluetooth.

Yeah, I wish you could customize that too. And that you could go forward and backwards (like push source, and the up/down of that button lets you go either direction)... there's often a lag when pushing the source button, so it jumps over what I was trying to select, so you have to cycle all the way through again... annoying. First world problem, though.
