Gen1 shocks & struts

Has anyone changed out their shocks & struts for their gen1s and if so, at what mileage did you do it? I’m at 85k miles at the moment, but the car feels like new when going over bumps (though maybe it just seems that way since wear is gradual over time).

G
170k miles.
One hundred and seventy thousand - am I writing a check?

What have I changed?

Oil - Valvoline Full Synthetic, I like to buy my own filter ($5) and take it to the Valvoline shop (hence the brand of oil) because they're the only quick-lube that won't leave your car in worse shape than you brought it - and they're open on Sunday. If I didn't bring my own filter, it's a "specialty" part and would cost $30 through them. I run at least half my miles on gas due to visiting family on the weekend, M-F is 100% electric.

Tires - After OEM tires wearing out, I replaced them with a Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3+. Changed from a 215/55R17 to a 235/50R17. Same diameter, 1" wider. They make you feel like you're STUCK to the road. Would NOT recommend for snow, of course snow tires are best, but those skinny hybrid tires are excellent for focusing more vehicle weight into cutting some tread into packed snow on the road. First set went 80k, and each set of Michelins last 65k though they're only a 45k tire due to the soft compound.

Floor mats - The stock carpet/foam ones didn't last long. Started tearing at the grommets. Replaced with a full set of all-weather OEM mats. Grommets still like to pop apart like on the carpet set, but at least you can put them right back together and the mat itself isn't damaged.

Headlights - 3 sets, first was OEM, then Sylvania SilverStars, now Sylvania SilverStar Ultra. A nice color for a halogen!

Air filter - changed once, basic Fram

Battery coolant - changed a few times when troubleshooting during some warranty work for disappearing coolant

Radiator - part of the aforementioned warranty work, was found leaking but not damaged

What worth noting is still original?

- Shocks
- Brakes
- Engine coolant
- Brake fluid
- Power steering fluid
- Traction battery
- 12V battery
- Spark plugs w/ 120k gas miles
- WIPERS. THE ORIGINAL WIPERS. They still work as if it's Day 1 and have not deteriorated in performance or detached. I'm guessing AC Delco?
- All accessory lightning

I'm bummed this turned into a "Fluid" thread.

I have 70k on my 2013 and the front struts/shocks are shot. They clunk and rattle over every bump and undulation.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on replacements?
Clunking and rattling aren't an indication of worn shocks/struts, bouncing up and down and the feeling of a washboard on a rough road are.
Check your anti sway system (sway bar) and the end links on your steering rack. The mount bushings and ends of the sway bar are usually the problem.

Thanks, I'll look. The dealer did mark that the struts were due during my last visit.

Are you sure it's the front? I found a nasty rattle problem in the rear. There is a plastic cylinder that somewhat protects the shiny exposed shaft of the rear shock from accumulating crud. That cylinder is supposed to stick into a round slot in the body, up near the top. Mine had fallen down and was loose - that is able to rattle around loose around the shock. Jamming it back up in there stopped the commotion at least until it falls down again.
