A little DIY to repair a door handle button that quit working.

Tools required

  • A small flathead screwdriver
  • 7mm socket
  • 15 Torx driver
  • A dremel with cutting blades
  • Wire cutters
  • A soldering iron
  • hot glue or epoxy

First remove the door card, door handle and connector. See video below:
Good luck with the connector, broke mine

With handle in hand, remove a portion of plastic underneath the button:

Remove the silicon from the top of the switch (flat head screwdriver works, be careful not to damage wiring:

You will see a wire that was detached due to corrosion. Pull a bit of insulator from the wire using cutters:

Solder the wire:

Fill with hot glue or epoxy. I like to shape the glue while it's setting with a piece of parchemin paper.

Reassemble and enjoy.
