FYI......New Recall on Emissions on y 2017 Volt....the engine light comes on...went by Chevy and they need days to repair it but it is NOT harmful to drive it that way before you can get it into the dealership.
I believe you are referring to the evaporator line issue where the fuel evap line can be punctured thus throwing a trouble code and turning on the MIL. It is a large repair (dealer stated 12 hours to me when I had it done and others have said similar).
Like you noted, it's an emissions-related issue so the car is fine to drive while waiting for the necessary parts to come in.
