My center stack is frozen on the start up leaves. All other buttons work normally on the stack. I've tried to turn off and restart. Still frozen the leaves. My Volt is a 2014 with 23000 miles. Any suggestions?

If you turn off the car and let it alone for some period of time (15 minutes, an hour?) it will internally reboot all of the computers when you get into the car next time. I had a single frozen center screen happen once in my 2011 Volt as I was driving to a restaurant for dinner. The screen stayed on even after the car was turned off. After dinner it had fixed itself.

There is also a way to force an early hard reboot by going through some dance with starting the car and then opening the door for 15 seconds etc etc. and then getting out, closing the door and walking 20-30 feet away with the key fob for a certain number of minutes. You could try looking around this site for the instructions.

If you are not in a hurry, just ignore the car and do something else for a hour or two and then check to see if it has fixed itself.

Last resort, disconnect the 12V battery ground, then reattach.

The car sat for an hour and the problem fixed. I wonder if my 12 volt battery is dying though?
I doubt your 12v is bad. There have been random reports of Center screen lockup and/or reboots with no lasting effect.

My 2012 and 2013 did something like this once as I recall and then all was well. Kind of like my iMAC, millions of lines of code and all very sensitive to clean stable power. Am surprised this doesn't occur more often. But if it occurs again and you have any B2B warranty left I'd get it in to your dealer.

I had my center stack replaced after this rebooting problem. Get your car to the dealer while it's not working and make a record. It may take a trip or two, but they'll eventually replace it. Just remember that you get a REFURBISHED radio. I'm not sure why, but mine is slightly slower than the new one that came with the car (but my new one never freezes).
