Did certain colors come with a black front grill instead of the silver one?

Well that's a fly in the ointment. Hahaha. Looks like grill painting time.
Learn to plastidip - if you don't like the color, you can peel it off (or dip over it) and start over. My volt grill started out as Silver Torquoise Chameleon, then black, now back to it's original color. My next trick is to try to color match my white diamond tricoat with white and pearlizer.

Go to youtube, look for dipyourcar.com and watch their videos - very informative.
I've actually never tried Plastidip. Is it durable? I've seen people with Plastidipped wheels and always wondered how it held up.
It lasts about 2-3 years, then needs another top coat to freshen it up. The beauty is how you can be sloppy with masking and peel the excess along the edges, unlike paint where you have to be spot on or you've ruined it.
Check out this video of the color shifting dip

Masked it.

There are a lot of tutorial videos here: https://www.youtube.com/user/DipYourCarcom

The bowtie is a vinyl from here: http://www.grafxwerks.com/cart.php?target=category&category_id=36
But you can be sloppy with the masking. I leave an inch around everything so you can peel it off the bumper panel when you're done dipping. I also stuck a bunch of pieces of cardboard behind the grill in front of the radiator (pushed a bunch of 4-6 inch wide strips up from the lower grill) to keep plastidip from getting into the small slits.

The fake grill on the Generation 1 Volt is the ugliest design feature on the body.
It looks better than the goofy oval on the early model S, and definitely better than that silly grin on the gen2 volt.

Speaking of grills, what about the Lexus RX

Looks like a cylon to me
