Fox News is hopeless. Realistically it's the closest thing we have to Pravda, the old propaganda mouthpiece of the Communist Party. It's position is very interesting. While the vast majority of Americans trust every news source BUT Fox -- making it the least trusted news source in America -- Republicans ONLY trust Fox -- making it also the most trusted news source.

The reason it can simultaneously be the most and least trusted news source is that basically Fox News is the propaganda arm of the Republican Party. If you believe what it has to say it's because you WANT to believe what it has to say. No doubt there were many party faithful in the Soviet Union who treated everything Pravada has to say as gospel because they wanted to believe it. It's the same with Republicans and Fox. Nothing more than this.

Well, 3.5 million for the reported cost and AD time for the super bowl, could instead have been used as a rebate of $3500 for the next 1000 sales, GM would have quickly sold 1000 volts, instead we have a strange ad, that won't sell a single Volt ... go GM

If they started discounting the Volt now people would point to that and say it's a sign the vehicle is failing. Plus there'd be some disgruntled purchasers of previous Volts. Good thing you're not in charge of GM.

Exactly this. And, they're still supply-constrained so there's no sense in jacking up demand much - I think they're still exploiting it as a "halo" car. Maybe there'll be an opportunity for some sort of permanent price drop with the new model year.

They need to drop the MSRP or the sales won't pick up again in March. $37.4k MSRP would mean they could advertize the car as being '$29.9k after tax credit', which sounds lot better than 'MSRP of $40k' and yes, I know I am comparing apples to oranges but that is how a lot of people think. Akerson has already stated that the MSRP will come down by summer, but now would be a good time to do it. Or a month after the CA Volts go on sale if they want to wait a bit. They haven't built a Volt in 40 days, so it isn't supply limited any longer. Today is supposed to be the day Hamtramck starts back up after the re-start date was kicked back a while ago.
