I have a 2017 Premier with both Drivers packages. One thing to note is that the car I bought had been a dealer's demo unit for some period of time, so I don't know what might have happened (the bumper being abused, etc.).

Going back to my very first test drive, when I didn't fully understand all of the bells & whistles of the Gen 2 yet, the forward parking sensor started going off at odd times - it would show all three bars dead ahead (but none to the sides) when driving forward slowly or even fully stopped, and empty pavement in front. The only solution was to deactivate the parking assist function.

The other thing that occurs on occasion is that the front parking sensor lights up when the car is in reverse (again, all three bars, and only the very center). It will usually signal a problem from that point on, regardless of the gear setting (other than Park). Once this behavior starts, it tends to persist during the entire drive.

Now that I've owned the car for close to a month, I've found that this behavior is sporadic - on the same day, or even in the same hour, this behavior will come and go between different driving sessions (car turned off and exited). I've checked the sensors and they appear clean and intact (not loose in their fittings).

So I was wondering if there is any prior experience with a problem like this reported in the Gen 2 cars, as my 2013 Gen 1 didn't have a forward parking alert of this type. Thanks.

Bring it in, it's under warranty, a hassle, but the dealership may be able to fix it through some service bulletin. The bulletin may exist, but I'm lazy to search for it... Most probably a calibration issue with the sensor or some connection loose (highly unlikely). Also, check the front sensor itself, is it loose or are there something/film covering it? Good luck.
