But a number of issues have emerged with the car, which were summarized by one commenter on a Reddit thread about the extensive trip:

Problems reported here in 3 days if i’m not wrong: 1. Air bag light. 2. Tire pressure sensor. 3. Charging lid. 4. Wipers knock. 5. Music system noises. 6. Service response malfunction. 7. Loud pop in back and warning light. 8. 12v plug not working. 9. Low quality wiper blades leaving strikes. 10. Time zone recognition. 11. Mistakes in charging rates calculation. And low quality “upgraded” music system.

I imagine Tesla will fix those issues. Speaking of issues, there are still unfixed software issues with the original Volt that will never get fixed because it is GM. Like battery charge periodically not showing up if you interrupt a remote start, etc. At least Tesla will OTA update that stuff.

I didn't look to see how many miles he has, but my Volt had a clunking axle that needed replacing by 9k miles. My point is we need more samples. I expect a few more issues than average with Tesla based on Model S and X, but none of those sound anything too serious.
I haven't seen any news on the falcon wing doors for a while (over a year), so I imagine they got them worked out. Point is Tesla will actively update older cars with OTA updates, which GM does not do at this time. There are many software updates that should be offered to older Volts that never will be, like Hold mode, etc.
