We are about to have the first ever Volt Nation event on March 19th at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City.

There we will meet, inspect the car, and have open dialogue with the entire Chevy Volt executive team.

This area will be here for people to network before and after the show and be able to put up content they have gathered, including facts, interviews, and photos.

If ou get video, post it to YouTube and link it here.

Now the Revolution has truly begun. Power to the People!

Please confirm... the 250 seats (+ the new expanded number) are for press passes to the auto show from the 21st - 23rd, correct?
However, there is no limit to the town hall meeting. Correct?

Thanks

Confirmation of press pass

How will we know if our confirmation email made the cut-off? I just want to make sure I'm not rescheduling a work trip for nothing.
Should be quite the event.

This is truly going to be an opportunity to participate in a slice of history. I'm sooo stoked (but then again, I don't get out much):) Thanks again, Lyle. This is really going to be something! See you on the 19th.
God Bless

Red Sox Nation to Volt Nation

Lyle,

Thank you for everything. This is an opportunity that is just too good to pass up.

If any other attendees from the New England area are looking to go to this event, I would be interested in carpooling. I live in the southern New Hampshire area.

Send me an email message and let's talk.

Regards,
Bill

Lyle - Some of us are asking each other by email if during the evening of the VoltNation event any part of the Auto Show exhibits can also be visited that same evening? (I'm flying in from Florida so I'd love to at least have a glimpse of any exhibits already open while there ....as I'm sure other gm-volt members would.)

Need to Wait for Friday

Jim I,

I clicked on your link and then on ticket purchase, but the earliest date that you could buy tickets was Friday the 21st. That's when the show officially opens to the public.

If there is a way to extend our press pass, or get into the show on Thursday, I would definately stay an extra day in NYC.

This is what's listed for "our" day:
Wednesday, March 19, 2008
All Day LeMay Museum Exhibit
Open to the press 1E Hall, Level 1
7:15am - 9:30am NYIAS/IMPA Opening Press Breakfast
Keynote Speaker: Robert L Nardelli Credentials Required Special Events Hall, Level 1
8:00am- 11:00am NADA Industry Relations Symposium
By Invitation Only Palace Hotel
9:40am - 5:00pm Manufacturers Press Conferences

So I guess we'll get "credentials"? That would seem like the Press Pass mentioned.

I'm jealous!

Because of business I will be unable to attend. I would implore that someone who is attending be so kind as to present three questions on my behalf.

1) Will the first generation North American Volt be capable of accepting a 220 volt charge?

2) Will the first generation Volt include ultracapacitors?

3) Will the first Volts be available to consumers or fleets only?

Any takers?

Eric - I've cut/pasted your 3 questions to my list, which is now over 25. With over 250 of us, it's VERY unlikely GM will be able to address all questions, so don't get your hopes up too much.

Two quick questions
What time do we need to get to the center?
How do we receive our press passes, are they mailed to the address provided in the email or do we pick them up at the event?

Can you paste your list of questions and answers here when / if you get answers?

When is the Volt going to be released to be sold, is there a waiting list that Chevy has (or will have)?

There is defintiely a waiting list, but I don't know if GM has it or recognizes it other than as a soft measure of demand. One of our questions will be "Can I give you a deposit TODAY????"

Parking?

Can anyone recommend a parking garage within a reasonable distance of the Javitz Center? If I had an address, I can handle getting the directions in and out of the city.
Thanks in advance,

Questions for Volt Nation

Looking forward to seeing everyone next Wednesday! I've read through the previous Q&A and several of my questions have been answered (like can the batteries be swapped in and out and will there be accessories). So here are a few I haven't seen specifically related to us:

1) We're here in New York (Long Island, NJ, CT, Westchester). We probably have a GM dealer we work with now for our car (Chevy Store, etc.) When the Volt comes out, on day one, or in month one, will it be one of those California Electric deals, or will we be able to pick up our car from our local dealer here in the tri-state area?

2) I've been driving my 1984 Camaro Berlinetta since it was new, for 24 years, and it has served me very well, but I'm ready to trade it in for a Volt. Lyle's waiting list is above 10,000 and I'm probably number 9,900. What are my chances of getting a Volt in the first weeks after it comes out?

3) What is GM's marketing strategy for the Volt? Will the commercials be in line with the idea that you can drive 40 miles on NO GAS? Will they talk about (not in these terms) screwing the oil barons and giving America back to the farmers and hard workers (it's flex fuel, remember)? What will be the hook to make this the most popular car in America?

I'll probably think of some more. Thanks for your consideration.
