Yes a road trip from Il to Michigan for a test drive would definitely be closer. Alas, I haven't even test driven an ELR nor a Volt G2. I know full well I shouldn't tempt myself w 9th moments of weakness. I've got to pay off the mortgage, then buy a really nice car.

According to the Detroit News, the truck shipment of Bolts we saw in the now famous pic was probably headed to Milford Proving Grounds for final testing. Bolts built so far are still in the holding pen awaiting release.

According to this Detroit News article, GM has confirmed that the first shipment has already left for CA. But it does say that the majority built haven't shipped yet.
