After considering the purchase of a Volt for about a year I finally pulled the trigger on a new 2018 model. It's a Mosaic Black Metallic with Jet Black Leather seats LT model. Options include the afore mentioned leather seats, Comfort Package, LT Driver Confidence Package (not sure if this differs from the Premier Confidence Package), and all weather floor mats.

Employee pricing brought the price of this car inline with the 2017 model I was just about to buy when the hail storm hit. Two things that won me over with this car: The black exterior which matches the black trim on the back and running boards. I didn't mind the white and black on the 2017 but I really like the solid color for the entire car (Chevy should really consider this for non black Volts). The other was the leather seats. Again this was related to the solid color of the seats instead of the pattern found in the cloth versions. These two things, for me, really set this car apart from the 2017.

Shout out to Len Lynn Chevrolet in Aurora. Very pleased with the buying experience there.

Congrats on the car. I think you'll like it. It's an easy one to live with. If you haven't had an electric before, I'm confident you'll really enjoy not going to the gas station.

Glad you missed the hail storm. Nothing like a few hundred dents in a new car to take the sparkle out!

Yeah you were definitely better off going for the new '18 as you know you are getting the full warranty, incentives, etc...

Congrats and enjoy the quiet ride.

Enjoy your new ride - I'll bet it's beautiful! Metallic black!!!

Everybody should own one black car in their lifetime - Few people buy a second one. :p Nothing looks better than a freshly washed and waxed black car . . . . and few things look worse than a black car that hasn't been washed in a week or so. Mine was an '86 Toyota Supra and I loved it, especially in the winter. In the summer, if it was parked out in the sun, you couldn't even get in it unless you opened the doors for a few minutes to let the 130 degree air out of it. A couple years after I bought it, I had it repainted white with black trim. Luckily, I always had a garage to keep it parked out of the sun, but that doesn't help you when you park it away from home

Thanks for all the congratulations everyone. I waffled on this purchase for so long but I'm very pleased to have finally made the purchase. I suspect in a week I'll be asking myself why I didn't make the decision sooner. Tier 1 electric rates are roughly 5.5 cents per kWh resulting in a "fill up" which costs a whopping $1.00. Though I might hit the tier 2 rate of roughly 10 cents kWh depending on electrical usage. The tier 2 rate kicks in on electrical consumption over 500kWh in a month but it only applies June through Sept, outside of the summer months the tier 1 rate applies no matter how much usage.

Ain't that the truth! This is my second metallic black vehicle so I know what to expect. Unfortunately this one will be out in the elements so I expect it will need a lot of washing. The salesman said he has a membership at a car wash which costs him $24/month for unlimited washes. Something I'll be considering.

My insurance agent told me hail tops the list for damage payouts in Colorado. Unfortunately this vehicle will be parked outside and subject to hail. Fortunately it seems hail is light where I live. In the 17 years I've lived here I experienced light hail damage once so I'm hoping I'm good for another 17 years of hail damage free ownership.

Congrats on the purchase! Glad we finally talked you into it haha.

We basically got the same car but I also have Bose and Nav. Hardly ever use the nav and Bose doesn't blow me away, so great pick! The seat heaters are a must have in this car.

Agree with what everyone says on the black -- looks awesome with the car, and disguises the black plastic/rubber trim well. But shows dirt so easily. With the pollen in PA now, mine looks like an aftermarket Citron Yellow.

Did you hang onto the Subaru?

I did keep the Subaru. The dealer offered a more realistic, in comparison to a previous trade offer from another dealer, value for it. Despite this I know I can get more selling it private party. If I can't find a buyer then maybe that's a sign I should keep it. It's been a great car but I can't really justify keeping three vehicles. I already have a difficult time putting miles on two vehicles.
