Hi,
Just got a 17 Premier Volt and I am considering getting the Extended Warranty. I am aware of the pros and cons. My main question is that I was told GM no longer manages it and that Zurich is not doing it. Is this correct? Any issues with Zurich.

My extended warranty is with Ally, it may be a regional thing or just whoever makes the dealer the most profit. I've never heard of Zurich but I would just Google for Zurich reviews....

Zurich is a very reputable company. And it's insurance, so it makes no difference who writes the policy. Many are sold after being written. Read it, and if you are happy with the terms then you are good to go.

But just so you are aware, most car warranty policies are a losing bet. They are sold at wildly different prices because they are of so little value. And they are pushed on you because the seller makes a killing. The big things on your car are already under a long warranty, and the little stuff is unlikely to cost you more than you pay for the insurance, plus any deductibles or co-pays. Cars are also more reliable then they've ever been. Read the fine print carefully.

FYI, that is not an official GM extended warranty site, it is sponsored my a dealership (Smith Motors or some such) that is selling the plan. Regardless, the GMEPP plan is widely believed to be the best warranty offering available. There are dealers who offer even better pricing on them than that website.

I bought an extended warranty from the dealer for my Volt as I plan to keep it for several years. The Ally backed warranty plan works just like the original GM bumper-to=bumper warranty. No other outside plan operates like that one does. In fact, if you look at the warranty information any dealer has based on your VIN #, you will see the plan listed and if you need warranty repairs at any dealer in the world, they honor it just like you were on the original 3/36 warranty.
