I use the included EVSE daily and it is difficult to insert and remove and isn’t getting any easier. Looking at it, I don’t see anything obvious that could be causing this. Removing it is usually harder than inserting it.
I’ve used several charging stations, as well as my father’s EVSE, which came with his 2013 Volt and they all go on much smoother and come off easier.
Anyone else that uses theirs regularly experiencing the same thing?

The first thing I would do is take it up with your dealer. It does appear to be a fault in the EVSE, so the fix should be obvious. Even if they are not prepared to swap for a new one under warranty, then you have a case documented. If it causes a later problem with the port, then you are covered for that as well.

Worst case, some very fine grit sandpaper on the EVSE exterior may knock it down enough to ease the mating process. However, some Gen 1 owners experienced the same issue and it went away with use over time (6 months?).

After 2 months I notices mine getting a little more difficult in insert. I coated the surfaces of the plug with a very thin coat of silicone dielectric contact grease. It now works great. I did not coat the electrical contacts.

I can't be the only one who replaced EVSE with something else for more enjoyable reading.....

Used 100% silicone spray on my Gen 1 plugs and never had any problem after that. Never used my Gen 2 plugs that came with the car because I have a Charge Point EVSE installed in the garage.

Thanks for all the comments from the adults. I'll look more closely, take down any excess with some fine grit. If that doesn't work I'll lube it up. Does anyone see any issue with using spray silicone as described above?

Just kidding about the adults comment, I intentionally describe things with some innuendo.

for that application I would suggest a high quality silicone spray that is listed as plastic safe. Don't go with the cheap crap, the savings is not worth it and can do some real damage to plastic over time.

These days I use WD-40 Specialist Water Resistant Silicone for this sort of thing (and also for the tread on my treadmill).
