Right now we are on vacation in Rome! 1000s of cars parked on the street! We are going to have to rethink the EV solution for a city like Rome! On the other hand....the short distances most people drive would be perfect for EVs
Rome is a long way from an EV future!

The problem with Rome is any time they dig up the streets for infrastructure they run into old Roman ruins and have to stop construction so the archaeologists have their turn.

Currently the price of regular octane fuel in Italy is ~$6.00 USD per US gallon. I would expect that most of those vehicles are parked during the week, only used for weekend excursions to the ski slopes etc. and when on holiday. These vehicles take up a lot of city parking but they don't get driven all that often. Most people would use buses and trains to get to work.

Shouldn't be too crowded with tourists this time of year, and it's not August so most of those ristorantes are not closed. Sounds like a good time to go.
