So while we are pondering the next gen. Volt BRUSA Elektronik AG of Switzerland has been hard at work electrifying trucks. Recently they unveiled a 750V drivetrain system and now they are trying out an 18 metric tonne truck based on an Iveco chassis.

Range?! A mere 186 miles. Speed?! Limited to a rather measly 54 mph. Then again we don't want any surprises when opening the beer. :)

So what happened to VIA trux? When is GMC coming out with one of their own?

You are largely correct, however the truck speed limit varies by country -- in some the limit is higher (i.e. France and Germany), in others lower, it varies by the road, and it varies by the truck. Wikipedia has a reasonable summary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_limits_by_country

The point with the eforce truck is to demonstrate the capabilities. Setting a limiter to something that could be considered a bit low seems discouraging even if it is rationally sufficient.
