EV Charging Locations coming to Apple Maps in IOS 10.3

IOS 10.3 Beta 1 shows EV charging locations. This is a nice addition to Apple CarPlay functionality.

I assume you mean 10.3 beta 1? I see some charging stations now in Apple Maps, but it seems like it is only ChargePoint stations and not all of them. My guess is they are just continuing to add to the database? Are you seeing stations other than ChargePoint?

I am running this beta version, but I do not see any charging locations listed in my map. Is there a filter or option somewhere in settings that you had to enable?

Edit: Nevermind, it only seems to show ChargePoint locations for me, thus far.

Wow! What a typo. Thanks.

I know some companies such as Uber and Yelp make an extension to tie into Maps. I wish ChargePoint and/or PlugShare would do this instead of relying on Apple to add it. At the rate they get stations added, how soon before they are out of date?

Hopefully they can add extra features like automatically showing that a charger is being used when the car is plugged in based on location. It would really be nice to have the charging network show people on the map whether the charger is occupied or not, as I've fallen prey to driving out of my way to get some free juice only to find that someone is parked there and I would have been better off parking closer to my event and not trying at all.

Unlikely, Plugshare has 3 engineers on their team that are all probably too busy keeping the ship(iOS,Android, web apps) afloat nevermind adding functionality...if they don't even make their app Android Auto/Apple Carplay compatible I wouldn't expect anything like that

This will only work if you own an iCar.
Apple could just tap into the Chargepoint API to show that information but it would only work for connected chargers
