With winter coming, I expect new and old Volt owners to be experiencing the dreaded Engine Running Due To Temperature (ERDTT). I you are interested in disabling this on your Volt, one of our members has an air temperature replacement module that you may be interested in. See http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread...er-Automatic-ERDTT-disabling-module-available...
With the module installed, you won;t get annoyed when you back out of your garage with a full charge only to have your gas engine turn on because the outside air temp is cold enough to trigger the set point for ERDTT. Never mind that you are warm and cozy in your preconditioned cabin and have plenty of heat fed by the battery. The gas engine is going to run for about 10 minutes anyway. And it will likely run again just as you pull into a parking spot. And again when you come out of the store, and again as you approach your house. All the while ignoring that you have plenty of battery to heat the cabin.
If needlessly burning gas bothers you, there is a solution. Trick the air temp sensor into thinking it's warmer outside than it really is. This involves wrapping a resistor around the two terminals of the temperature module. We have details in our FAQ (http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread.php?127761-ERDTT-Modification-Options), or you can buy it premade by one of our members, Joesonvolt http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread...er-Automatic-ERDTT-disabling-module-available....
