Wow, an even more expensive way to operate a vehicle than leasing...I think I'll be happy with whatever $39 midsize car they give me.

Everyone knows leasing any car worth a good chunk of money will set you back. Nothing wrong with it if people are willing to pay. Maybe it's a great way for someone in the market for a Tesla to see if they really like it by a day long test drive. Better to lose 300 dollars once than being stuck with a 70K car you don't like.

What I'm curious on though:
1) if you rent it for more than a day, do they give you a charger to go along with it? Charging that thing at 120V at home would be pointlessly slow.

2) if you return it with 1/4 "tank" worth of juice, how much does the rental place rape you for in terms of "refueling". Seeing as how it only costs something like 6 bucks to fill the thing up... I'm sure they would waste no oppourtunity to charge you a "refueling" fee of something crazy like 25 dollars.

I'd test drive from the tesla stores for free, even go to multiple stores over multiple days rather than pay that much for a day with the car. I think the only scenario that might work is if you're going to your high school reunion and want to lie about your success when you live at home in your parent's basement working at a McD's while mastering halo. Drive up in a tesla with a rented escort service girl who also works at hooters.

As for refueling, I can see it now, drive it for an hour, plug into 110v for the remainderr of your 24 hour rental. Hopefully there's a supercharger nearby.
