Hello.

I've been using a Kill-A-Watt P3 for a while now on my L1 EVSE and it hasn't really had any issues. However I'd like to be able to view more information. I'd also like to view that information without having to crouch down and press a bunch of buttons on a hard-to-view screen. I've seen some ones with remote displays, some wireless, and others on a card ( Like this one ). What I'd really like to have is one that connects to WiF or Bluetoothi. That way things like charts would be easily possible. Does anyone know of any?

One issue I did have with the P3 is that it doesn't save the data in any sort of way. If the power goes out or its unplugged, it'll lose the usage data.

Has anyone tried the neurio system? http://neur.io/products/ (ah, some online reports seem to indicate the company is gone?)

There is the much more expensive sense too https://sense.com/product.html , I don't see graphs on the web site, but I think someone showed a very detailed graph here some time back, can't find the post. Also, there are a number of wifi / Bluetooth units on Amazon, some in the P3 form factor, but none have great reviews.

I'm surprised to hear that the OP's P3 doesn't retain the data after a power loss. I have one and it definitely keeps the data. I believe there is a small battery inside the unit that may no longer be functioning. I used to use mine to track energy usage when I first got my Volt just to get some real data on how much I could expect my power bill to increase. I only mention this because I just pulled it out after being unplugged for the past few months and it still had all the original usage data which I reset back to zero.

I'd recommend just plugging the car in and not worrying about your energy consumption. Sure it's some extre numbers to track but does it really gain you anything? Why not spend the money you would have spent on a new meter towards an L2 EVSE? That actually has some purpose as it is liberating to be able to fill a drained battery in 4+ hours or so.

The TPLink HS110 did look pretty good at Amazon too, but the OP asked about charts. Also, OP scroll down on your "like this one" page and look at a number of pictures of burned device outlets. That's another potential problem with any of these single outlet solutions. Possibly more of a problem at 12A.

Totally agree with llninja about L2, but many of us are gadget people and love numbers. It is true that many spend more on the device than any potential savings, but gadgets can be fun.

Yeah. I remember reading about the meters burning up a while ago. Fortunately mine hasn't had that issue. I'd love to have an L2 charger, but that'd require a lot of electrical work, let alone $500 for the charger itself.

I did see a meter by Etekcity that has charts, but that's only rated for 1200watts. That'd be fine for the default 8amp charging, but not quite 12amp.

I'm not really trying to save money. I'd just like to track how much energy my Volt uses and would like an easier way to do that.
