Now that the weather has gotten a little colder, I've started paying attention to the energy usage of the climate control system as shown on the Energy Details screen. But in addition to the Driving and Climate Settings categories, there is also an 'Other' category. What the heck is 'Other'? Has anyone ever seen a non-zero percentage shown for 'Other'? (see pic of the screen, below)

Driving may be drive motors only. Climate may include the obvious heater, seat and steering wheel heaters. Other may be stereo, windows, headlights, turn signals, dashboard displays, onboard computers, etc. maybe even the brakes and power steering. Just my guess.

Maybe a good guess. But even after 50+ miles of driving, I don't remember mine showing any value besides 0%.

Let's look at the math. In order to record even 1% of the available battery capacity of ~14 kWh, the usage would have to be 140 Wh. I suppose it's possible that all the non-climate hotel loads (lights, radio, steering, etc) won't use even 140 Wh over the course of driving for 60...90 minutes.

Perhaps it's a simple way to see that everything is working correctly and that there aren't any phantom loads in the system that can't be accounted for. So if anything but 0% shows up you know there is a short somewhere.

Maybe next time I should RTFM ;) ...which says,

The Energy Details screen displays how energy is being used since the last time the high voltage battery was fully charged. It includes Driving and Accessories, Climate Settings, and Battery Conditioning. The circle graph displays these percentages. The total energy used displays at the bottom of the screen.
If the three categories on the screen correspond to the manual description in order, then the hotel load (accessories) is included in the Driving percentage. And the 'Other' category is only Battery Conditioning. Since I've never seen more than 0% there, I must not have experienced any battery conditioning load while driving.

I was just going to post this very thing. I'm sitting here reading through the PDF version of the 2017 Volt Owners Manual while I wait for my car to be delivered. :)

Hang in there, SSonnentag. The wait must be torture.
