So far the longest time between trips exceeding EV range has been 5 and a half weeks. This means I've yet to see EMM in action. My question, when the 2nd gen Volt (2017) triggers EMM is the car actually being propelled by the ICE engine during EMM?

I know it's propelled by ICE during FMM - this question is EMM specific.

I believe the engine is just in idle mode and burns little fuel while doing so. With our 2016 Volt and our 2014 Volt which we traded in for our current 2016 Volt, we never had it occur as we live out here on the Oregon Coast way outside our electric range for the Portland Oregon and Longview Washington area and use the gas engine quite frequently.

I believe the engine does not run very long in EMM. If it was me I would just place in hold mode and run for about 10 miles, this will heat the engine to optimum operating temperature as well as the exhaust system. You probably will only use a quart of gas or less as well.

It happened to me last week for the first time. It had been approx 6 weeks since the last use of the engine. Basically, it told me a startup, and since I hit slow traffic on my way to work almost immediately, I was just going 5 kmh and the engine was revving at high rpm. I switch the display to the propulsion info, and all the power "routing" seemed to come from the electric motor. This didn't last very long, perhaps 5 mins. then it shut down, and that was it.

Thank you.

Also note there is a difference between the Ten I and Get II, in the Gen I you could press the ACCEPT button and the ICE would start immediately meaning you could let the car sit in your garage and IDLE. With the Gen II after pressing the ACCEPT it requires you to actually start driving, for me the ICE doesn't start until I have driven about a mile. Guess that was a safety mod.
