Just purchased a 2014 ELR certified pre-owned from my local dealer. Dark gray metallic over black. I'm sure I'll have more questions as I learn by using (I hate reading manuals), but these are some I couldn't find answers to. This is my first Caddy with the CUE system, so it's a big leap in technology:

1) On my old DTS, the trunk opened all the way up so I could load without having to lift up the trunk lid. Is this not possible on the ELR (when I press the trunk release, it only cracks a little, so I have to lift it up which is a hassle)? The dealer was unsure since they know less about the car than I do since they sold so few of them :p

2) Does any know how to remove the ugly front bumper plate mount? I understand that there are aftermarket plugs available somewhere to plug the holes left.

3) When charging, how do I enable the side mirror lights to glow as only the bubble on the dash lights up green? The dealer and I looked in the settings under energy and couldn't find the option.

4) I heard that the storage compartment door is notorious for not working consistently. I demonstrated this to the dealer and he was baffled and didn't know what to do. I've noticed to get the door to work, I have to reboot the car. Is this just something I need to live with?

5) What is the lifespan of the battery and cost?

6) Just curious, has anyone upgraded their wheels to 22s from the OEM 20s?

Congrats! Mine is red and gorgeous.

1. It is working as designed.
2. I think there is a thread here somewhere.
3. Rtfm. I’ll look up the page number if I get a chance today.
4. I’m guessing you mean the one behind the climate controls. Yes, it is very sensitive. I rarely use it as there is another USB in the center console.
5. 80k or 100k miles warranty. No reports of a battery ever failing.
6. 22s might be overkill. I really like the OEMs.

3. Page 5-55 of the PDF owner's manual. Charge Status Feedback.

Why did you buy an ELR? Dual tailpipes and 22s are usually done on '68 Chevys not modern EVs.

1) Wanted a hybrid.
2) The CT6 hybrid was nice but it was time to change to a smaller car to get around in (am selling my DTS sedan which was a great car but it's like driving a boat).
3) IMO, there is nothing in the <$40K price point for hybrids that look as cool as the ELR
