I had a minor parking lot accident that tore the front bumper cover, and it has to be replaced.

There’s an electrical component under the front left side. The little plastic cover over the wiring is missing. The body shop says they may have to replace the whole wiring harness.

What does that component do?

I don't think it's part of the high voltage side - the only thing on the high voltage side I know of right under the bumper is the charger module, but that's on the right side on first generation Volts (not sure what's under the bumper on second generation cars.)

I don’t think it’s high voltage. A number of small wires go into it from the main engine wiring harness with three square plugs.

The car is a 2015 model year.

I found it in the 8000 page Ampera service guide someone helpfully loaded.

It is the 'engine control module'. Not sure what it does.

I would imagine it controls the engine.
