My 2014 Volt just passed the 4 year ownership mark and has a bit over 67K miles. My center stack has been freezing and resetting for a while now. The drive mode selector has now decided to stop cooperating as well. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it has a delay (similar to the center stack display delays) and sometimes it just doesn't work at all. I usually drive in normal on surface streets and switch to hold when cruising the freeway during my commute so I use the button several times a day.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks.

I had my whole console area replaced under warranty when my drive mode button stopped working. That button was integrated in the console. I would use 'sport mode' every time I drove.

I've seen videos of people prying off the button and making a little bit of a '*******' fix for it tho.

One good think about my mode button breaking and me getting a new console is the next generation had larger and more readable FONTs on it!!!

My mode selector was a part time to no time affair when i bought my 13, I pried out the button top with my pocket knife and shot a liberal shot of CRC contact cleaner into it. It's worked flawlessly since and that was a year and a half ago. --Worth a try and cheap

After taking my car to the dealer four times for this issue (drive mode button has a way of not working for weeks then it works at the dealer) they finally fixed it. It was replacement of the face plate thingy for the center stack. A bit over $700.

New button feels much firmer than old button and actually works now.
