LA Chevy Volt Chase

I've never been so proud to own a Volt!
I do wonder how he "stole" the car.....but details not released.

This occurred yesterday at around 3 PM PST.

My favorite part is the Volt flying through the air after hitting a dip @ ~3:45 into the video.

Maybe for Volt 3.0

Noticed the Volt totally KO'ed the police cruiser it smashed into at the end. Though the on-board charger likely was toast as well.

Nice vid! I am constantly amazed on these videos why the cop at the very beginning didn't block him in the parking spot.
Then, at the end, at first left him the option of backing up after collision. Didn't back up against him for a couple minutes.
Its like they forget cars have reverse.
...and I'm guessing this came up!

The commentary reminds me of sports announcers... "I'm gonna talk about very obvious things that are happening and about things that I know nothing about."

As I was watching the video I found myself going "Yup, that backup camera is helping." "Yeah those LRR tires aren't great for corners." "Gotta love that low end torque." "Not gonna outrun that helicopter though."

Once he hit the SUV (and took out its radiator), at 4:12, it looks like the air bags went off in one of the frames. No doubt stunned him a bit.

Glad nobody was seriously hurt, and hate to use that video for positive reference material, but the Volt is pretty nimble in urban areas, with decent acceleration and handling.

I was impressed with the driver. He was weaving through tight spaces constantly. But he finally went down a dead end. Even that he almost got out of. I guess he should have called OnStar for a route.

Would be interesting if the Owner of that Volt was on this site.....described it...then asked what a good price for a new or used Volt is.

It is a bummer to lose the Volt....but I would look forward to any new Volt/PHEV/BEV as well.

My favorite part was the reporter describing the cops as "helping the suspect exit the car" as they bust the window, pull him out and throw him to the ground.
