We have an ELR section, which is based off the Volt, so that makes sense. But now we have the Bolt EV section, which really shares nothing with the Volt. Why not have a Cadillac CT6 section? It's more traffic for the site, which is good.

The Bolt is electric, which shares the same characteristics with the Volt which the site is based around.

The CT6 is neither electric, nor a hybrid, so it does not fit the characteristics of the site.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I assume Chris was suggesting a section for the just released CT6 PHEV, which shares a lot of bits with the second generation Volt, although both the battery and transmission are packaged differently. The fact that it's only one powertrain on an otherwise unrelated car certainly makes the decision more complicated.

Just edit the ELR to be ELR/CT6 or Cadillac EV.

BTW - I drove a CT6 PHEV with wifey. Meh. I love Voltec and EV powertrains, but ... the CT6 Hybrid isn't a very good powertrain IMO. Like a Fusion PHEV.

The sub-forums will get outta-control real fast. There will be other cars based on Voltec and Bolt soon. Do we make a forum for Malibu Hybrid as well?

I'm thinking a sub-forum is needed only if there is enough traffic to support it. IOW, wait until there is traffic and then place that traffic in a sub-forum.

We could make a sub forum for Malibu Hybrid is there is a demand for it. Like you said, wait until there is more traffic and we'll channel them there. When this happens - let us know and we'll make a new sub-section to accommodate these members. :)

Thanks for the suggestion!

Cheers,
Natalie

Is there a big demand for this? Do you guys already see a lot of threads that could go in there?

There's a few, but it would be a good landing point for discussions. Considering it's available for ordering, why not be proactive?

Hey guys,

So the mods have spoken. They say there isn't much justification for a full section with 4 or 5 sub forums but could add a single forum for each similar to the ones in the EV competition section and that might grow into something bigger in the future if the volume justifies it.

Also, what do you guys think about a sub forum for Voltec drive trains? Both the CT6 and the Malibu would fit into that. The concern with this is that perhaps not many people would understand the entire Voltec connection. At the moment this site is for EREVs (Volt, ELR) and BEVs (Bolt EV), so this would be for Voltec PHEVs (the CT6 hybrid) and Hybrids (Malibu).

If and (hopefully) when GM brings out a Voltec based SUV -- PHEV or EREV -- I think that vehicle would be considerable attention.

What do you guys think? Let us know and we'll go from there. Thanks for your time and attention on this.

Cheers,
Natalie

I would like to second the request for a CT6 dedicated site. Chris may have been speaking about the CT6 Plug-In.

I have the CT6 Plug-In and would like to see what others are saying about their vehicle. I have 475 miles on it.

Traded my Sonata Plug-In that had 40K miles

No reason to post CT6 threads in the Volt forum.

We have an "Other GM" in the "Other Topics" > "Hybrids and Electric Vehicles" Sub-forum. That's where I moved the last CT6 thread too.

Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific and said CT6 Plug-In.

I have found the information here quite informative since I attempted to get a Volt in Georgia many years ago and finally bought my Sonata Plug-In in MD since GM couldn't get it together back in the fall of 2015.

And, yep the Cadillac is plugged in even as I reply...
