Dealer say $4k to fix Power Steering lock up & Center Stack radio reboot (every 3min)

TLDR: Dealer wants $4k, GM says no pay no way Jose. Gonna get it done from repair guys and myself.

After almost a month back and forth between GM and a local Chevy dealer my 2014 Chevy Volt has been denied any kind of repair under the Power Steering warranty add on that happened after they (Chevy) lost the class action.

Started and they said it would be a mere $4k + to get her fixed. I am outside of my normal B2B warranty.

Power Steering dies, wheel moves on its own and you need to use some big boy muscles to move the wheel.

Center Radio stack MyLink system reboots about every 2-3 mins. Super annoying and makes it pretty much useless. This is a defect and should be recalled. This will be the last Chevy I ever own. I also have a 2015 Traverse.

EVSE charger is pretty much dead. I use this everyday and these were not designed for everyday charging.

So the quote started at $4k+ then magically made it to $2800 and the dealer says its going to be a nice guy and only charge $2000 total. I have been to many Chevy dealers and actually this specific one is good, but I used to sell cars and I know how they all run and how they think.

So I'm going to do this all on my own.

Replace the Power Steering Rack / Gear electric assembly.. Chevy uses it in a bunch of other cars.
total = $650 including labor and part.

Used Radio pulled from a wreck Volt with Nav. = $50-150$ on FLebay.. Replace it myself.

replace my EVSE plug and look and some of the $200 dual 120v/240v chargers on Amazon.. (maybe I'll just keep rocking the factory charger)..

.. I'll update as it goes

Have filed a complaint with the NHTSA and contacted the lawfirm who is working on another class action against GM. They have stated that they always believed there was serious electrical problems with the Chevy Volt (Gen1).

This has been over a year and a half of my life back and forth with GM corporate and dealerships.

Why are you posting issues for the Chevy Cruze?
